The Celebrity Series Campaign for the Performing Arts

In 1938, concert pianist and artists’ manager Aaron Richmond presented the first Celebrity Series concerts to Boston audiences.

From the beginning, Aaron Richmond’s vision was to offer Boston audiences the opportunity to experience performances by the most gifted and accomplished performing artists of the day.

Richmond’s legacy has ensured that generations of audiences throughout Greater Boston have been introduced to music, dance and theatre through the performances and the education and community programs of the Celebrity Series.

Today, the Celebrity Series is renewing its dedication to artistic excellence and securing its commitment to future generations of artists and audiences with the Celebrity Series Campaign for the Performing Arts.

The $21 million Campaign is a comprehensive, three-year initiative, securing eight million dollars in operating funds, one million dollars in operating reserves, and a twelve million-dollar endowment.

By strengthening the Celebrity Series’ financial foundation, the Campaign provides an opportunity for the Celebrity Series to reaffirm its reputation for artistic excellence, to uphold its commitment to education and community, and to rededicate itself to the creation of new works and the fostering of new talent.
