DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING INTERN: SPRING, SUMMER, and FALL 2018

Celebrity Series of Boston is seeking interns for our Advancement department. We offer semester-long internships in the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. This internship is an excellent opportunity for any student desiring to gain experience in fundraising, arts administration, or to simply get a general sense of the day-to-day operations of a performing arts non-profit. Department: Development
Reports to: Associate Director of Institutional Giving
Compensation: Unpaid, potential course credit available
Time Commitment: 15-20 hours/ week

Position Description:
The Development Intern will gain insight into the inner workings of one of Boston’s leading performing arts presenting organizations. The intern will provide assistance in all aspects of Individual Giving, projects in Corporate and Foundation giving, and Special Events. S/he will also have the opportunity to work in Tessitura, a leading Customer Relations Management database used among non-profit arts organizations. The intern will receive database training and an entry-level understanding of prospect management and research and will have the opportunity to attend selected Celebrity Series performances and events.

Responsibilities:
Maintains and organizes donor databases and updates donor files.
Assembles, drafts, and edits content for donor communications. 
Assists with departmental mailings.
Performs prospect research and runs reports for Development staff.
Assists with digital and print donor appeals.
Provides support for special events as needed.
Attends performances and special events to provide departmental support as needed.

Requirements:
• Undergraduate or graduate student
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with people from varied backgrounds
• Ability to conduct oneself professionally and adhere to Celebrity Series’ strict code of confidentiality
• A strong interest in the performing arts or development preferred
• Willingness, enthusiasm, and flexibility a must!
