With the Anat Cohen Tentet, woodwind virtuoso Anat Cohen brings audiences an evocative and exciting experience centered around the clarinet. The Tentet weaves a tapestry of sounds, freeing Cohen to explore the full range of the clarinet’s dynamics and demonstrate its vastly expressive character. Saxophonist Ben Wendel reimagines his critically acclaimed The Seasons project (inspired by Tchaikovsky’s work of the same name) for the road with an all-star ensemble. A Grammy Award nominee, Wendel is a founding member of the band Kneebody and has received an ASCAP Jazz Composer Award. Boston audiences will recall Wendel’s 2016 turn with Kneedelus as part of Stave Sessions. Don’t miss this exciting double-bill!
“[Wendel is] a literate and adaptable multi-reedist whose original music puts a premium on lyricism… A wide-open sensibility, about as tuned to Bach and Bjork as Monk and Shorter.” —The New York Times
“…jazz clarinet has been outnumbered by even the accordion and harmonica. Anat Cohen is leading the instrument’s charge back to the throne.”
—The Wall Street Journal
