Whether you're a longtime subscriber or here to look up information about how to get tickets to your first performance, please read on to find answers to common questions.

Please note that our box office is closed on national holidays and each Friday during the summer months. If you are needing to contact us during the weekend in regards to a performance you will be attending the best method of communication is email. We check the email sporadically throughout the day for weekend performances and will return your email as promptly as possible.

2024/25 Season Policies

Find answers here for general questions about becoming a subscriber for the 2024/25 season, as well as the latest information about health and safety practices.

If your ticket order was placed in May, June, July, or early August your ticket packet will be sent to you in mid-August.

Subscription orders received in mid-August and beyond will be handled on a rolling basis.

Late seating policies vary by venue and at the request of the artists. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of house management. 

For the 2024-25 season, tickets from a canceled event will not be valid. On the rare occasion a performance is canceled, all patrons will be contacted and provided information on how they would like to handle the funds of their ticket. If we have not received this information by the provided deadline funds are automatically processed as a donation

When tickets go on sale, our website is the best way to purchase. The website reflects current seat availability ensuring fair and timely processing. Telephone ordering will be available, but we encourage online orders to avoid hold times. Patrons can purchase up to 6 tickets per event.

For the 2024-25 season individual tickets will go on sale in three waves:

Wave 1: October-December performances available August 20 at noon

Wave 2: January- mid-March performances available October 29 at noon

Wave 3: Mid-March- May performances available January 14 at noon

Subscriptions are on sale through October 9th, 2024 at noon! To become a subscriber, you will need to purchase tickets to at least 3 in-person performances and pay a one-time $15 subscription fee by the subscription deadline in the fall. You will be considered a subscriber for the entire 2024-25 season -- eligible for all associated benefits and services including early access to seats before the general public; guaranteed pricing; advance notice of new events; ticket exchange privileges; and no additional service fees for added ticket purchases or exchanges throughout the season.

If you've already purchased your subscription, but would like to add additional shows or seats, use the "Subscriber Access" button on the performance page to purchase! If you prefer, we are happy to help you over the phone as well. The deadline for subscriber priced tickets and subscriber exchanges is noon the business day before your performance.

To simplify the exchange process, you can also access our Exchange Form any time to submit your request and you will receive a confirmation email when it has been processed. An image of your voided tickets is required to complete the exchange and may be sent via email to boxoffice@celebrityseries.org. Please note that the deadline for any exchange is noon the business day before your performance.

Subscribers who would like to exchange tickets for a future show in the 2024-25 season may ask for funds to be held on account. The same deadline and ticket return requirements above apply. Any unused funds will revert to a donation at the close of the 2024-25 season.

If your plans change:
As one of their many benefits, subscribers can exchange their tickets for tickets to another Celebrity Series performance during the 2024-25 season, for credit on account, or a donation to Celebrity Series.

All exchanges, credit on account, or donations of tickets must occur before Noon the business day before your elected performance. 

For single ticket buyers, all purchases are final sale. In the event a performance is canceled, all ticketholders will have the opportunity to request a refund. 

Digital performances will not be offered for this upcoming Subscription season. Select Neighborhood Arts performances will be available to watch as on-demand recordings on our YouTube channel.

Ticketing and General Customer Service

Find answers to your general ticketing, discounting, and customer service questions.

If 'Email Tickets' is listed as your ticket delivery method, you will receive a separate email around noon seven days before the performance with your tickets. If purchased closer to the performance date than seven days, you will receive a separate email with your tickets in the next few minutes.

The service charge covers the cost of mailing and other operational costs for our box office, including credit card commissions charged by banks. Subscribers pay a one-time charge of $15 for the season, and incur no additional fees when purchasing additional tickets or making exchanges. Our service charges are among the lowest in the city.

Non-subscribers can purchase tickets at the appropriate performance venue box office. Please note that the Celebrity Series Box Office does not process walk-up purchases at the office. Any patrons who arrive at the office  building wanting to purchase tickets in person, will not be permitted beyond the lobby. 

Without current contact information, Celebrity Series does not have a way to reach you about your performance. In the case of a cancellation or change to the performance, Celebrity Series will contact you via mail, email, and/or phone to make sure you have all the information you need.  You can always ask to be removed from our mailing and e-marketing lists by calling the Box Office or emailing boxoffice@celebrityseries.org.

Because tickets are offered on subscription prior to public sale of individual tickets, some performances sell out to subscribers in advance of public sale. 

Student ticket offers are available for many Celebrity Series performances. For information and availability, visit our Student Tickets page, call 617-482-6661, or sign up to receive regular email notices.

Ticket refunds are not available, however, Celebrity Series subscribers may exchange their tickets for another performance. 

To simplify the exchange process, subscribers can access our Exchange Form to submit their request and receive an email confirmation when it has been processed.

Your tickets can be reprinted if you can provide proof of original purchase such as a credit card receipt and proper identification. Call 617-482-6661 for assistance.

If you arrive at the theater and can't find or access your tickets, please approach the Celebrity Series table in the venue for help. 

Celebrity Series of Boston offers ticket discounts to groups of ten (10) or more for most performances. For more information on tickets for groups, please visit our Group Discounts page.

We are not responsible for tickets purchased from unauthorized ticket brokers or websites and we don’t support the unauthorized reselling of tickets at a price above printed face value, which is barred by the state of Massachusetts. The Celebrity Series retains the right to refuse to sell tickets to any person or entity that has been, or currently is, in violation of these prohibitions. The Celebrity Series also retains the right to hold large or suspicious orders for pick-up at Will Call with a valid ID.

These websites are often made to look like legitimate ticketing agents of Celebrity Series or our presenting facilities by using our logo, photographs, press quotes, and venue name. No matter how legitimate a website may look, tickets that aren’t purchased directly from Celebrity Series, our presenting facilities, or authorized partners may not be valid for admission. If you purchased tickets from an unauthorized source and were not granted admission, there are several ways to seek a refund:

Return to your point of purchase (e.g., your ticket broker or online ticket resale website), report that the tickets weren’t valid for entry and demand a refund. You may also want to report the vendor to Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing at (617) 635-3834 and consumer@boston.gov as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell at (617) 727-2200.  If you are unsuccessful in demanding a refund from the vendor, we suggest that you contact the credit card company you used for the purchase. Explain the situation and ask that they refund you and offset future monies they may owe to the vendor - this is known as a “chargeback”.

The safest and most economical way to purchase tickets is directly through Celebrity Series or our presenting facilities.

It is Celebrity Series of Boston policy to notify all ticket holders by phone in the event of a cancellation. Please be advised that there will be no exchanges or refunds for performances that take place as scheduled.

To keep the brochure current, prices are not listed because they may change during the season. 

Guaranteed pricing is a benefit of subscription: To see pricing, click into any performance and choose "Subscriber Access" to see seat maps, availability, and pricing. Choose seats for your desired performances to add them to your cart and go to checkout when you’re done. 

Individual Concerts: When tickets for individual concerts become available, seat maps, availability, and pricing can be accessed by clicking "Buy Now" on the specific performance. Subscribers receive guaranteed pricing (and no additional fees) when adding tickets to their subscription during the season.

*Accessible seating purchases for the Boch Center Wang Theater or Sanders Theatre performances must go through the Box Office of each respective venue. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided for the David Sedaris performance on Sunday, April 6 at 7:00pm in 2025.

The Celebrity Series of Boston offers sign language interpretation upon request. Requests for sign language interpreters must be received at least four weeks prior to the event by contacting Celebrity Series at (617) 482-6661 or boxoffice@celebrityseries.org. All requests are subject to the availability of an interpreter and provided at the discretion of the management.

Most SmartTVs and streaming devices (i.e. Amazon Fire TV, Roku, AppleTV, etc.) either come with a YouTube application pre-installed or available to download from their individual app stores.  Once you have the YouTube app downloaded onto your SmartTV or streaming device, simply search for the Celebrity Series of Boston YouTube channel.  On our channel you can view our current live concert, as well as our library of select past performances, from the comfort of your television.

We no longer record or present our Subscription series performances digitally. We are, however, happy to offer select Neighborhood Arts performances digitally on our YouTube channel for free! 

General Questions About Celebrity Series

Our founding year, our online interaction policy, and other miscellaneous answers about Celebrity Series.

The Celebrity Series was founded in 1938 as the Aaron Richmond Celebrity Series. The Series incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in 1989.

Performance durations vary, but most last approximately 2 hours, including intermissions. Dance performances can be of various lengths, and may have more than one intermission. Encores may increase the length of a performance.

The Celebrity Series welcomes children age 5 and older to most performances. We recommend calling our offices if you have specific questions regarding performance content.

The Celebrity Series typically presents approximately 100 different presentations each year in venues throughout Greater Boston.

The Celebrity Series presents a compelling line-up of world-class performers from around the globe in the performing arts, including music, dance, and theater. This includes orchestras, instrumentalists, and vocalists featuring classical music, early music, choral music, chamber music, jazz, popular, and folk music; ballet, modern, and folk dance; as well as comedy and cabaret performances.
The Celebrity Series also operates a nationally recognized community program, Arts for All!, which works in collaboration with schools and community organizations to introduce young audiences to the performing arts.
