Dance, in venues grand and intimate
This season, we're excited to offer you dance events in five different venues, bringing you extraordinary performance in spaces that best show off the dancers' artistry.
In the Theatre District, Martha Graham Dance Company returns to the Series after nearly two decades, performing at the Cutler Majestic Theatre on their GRAHAM100 tour to mark the company's 2026 centennial. Cuba's Malpaso Dance Company performs on the Robert J. Orchard Stage at Emerson's Paramount Center. And, in a beloved spring tradition, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater brings their founder's works and contemporary choreographers' visions to life at the Boch Center Wang Theatre.
Two brand-new venues host dance duets you won't want to miss! The Boston Arts Academy Theatre welcomes pianist Conrad Tao and tap dancer Caleb Teicher for Counterpoint, a powerful and surprising conversation in music and dance between two young virtuosos. A special partnership with the school makes an already great event even better: Boston Arts Academy students will learn from the performing and production artists and technicians.
Arrow Street Arts' Black Box Theatre, opened in 2024, is the setting for Graveyards and Gardens, a multidisciplinary performance installation from composer/vocalist/violist Caroline Shaw and dancer/choreographer Vanessa Goodman. The flexible Black Box also converts to a jazz club for the eagerly-awaited return of the Jazz Festival.
Dance this season isn't just for the professionals: we invite you to dance along with Ailey company teaching artists when we present four "Revelations Celebration" workshops in March 2025! Learn highlights from Mr. Ailey's masterpiece and get even closer to the artistry.
88 keys, endless possibilities
This season offers a staggering lineup of pianists: one of the strongest and most stylistically diverse ever! Returning favorites include Emanuel Ax (appearing in Boston and in Groton), Víkingur Ólafsson & Yuja Wang in a stunning two-piano and piano four hands program, Seong-Jin Cho in an all-Ravel program at Symphony Hall, the dazzling Hiromi onstage at Berklee Performance Center with her Sonicwonder quartet, Lang Lang returning to perform essential Romantic classics, Jason Moran paying tribute to Duke Ellington, the always-impressive Evgeny Kissin, Daniil Trifonov in a duo performance with violinist Leonidas Kavakos, and Paul Lewis revisiting Schubert's Last Three Sonatas.
Making debuts are South African piano titan Abdullah Ibrahim, who redefined African jazz and inspired a nation during the apartheid era; Yulianna Avdeeva, a rising star in Europe with much-anticipated outings in Cambridge and Groton; Canadian phenom Jan Lisiecki, in recital with another debuting artist, violinist Julia Fischer; Zlata Chochieva on the Debut Series; and red-hot young pianist and bandleader Sean Mason at the Jazz Festival with his Quartet.
Must-see popular artists
Ina Garten's Be Ready When the Luck Happens event at Symphony Hall is going to be unmissable: interest is already high and it's on track to be one of our fastest-selling events in our 86-year history. If you want to be sure you get in, the best way is to become a subscriber.
The season also features the return of popular artists who were sold-out sensations in their most recent appearances. The virtuosic and irreverent Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain returns to Jordan Hall for their third appearance (the previous two were sold out...mostly to subscribers!). Japan's Kodo returns, with the second of two productions created for their 40th anniversary. Their last appearance was a thunderous sellout at Symphony Hall, so don't miss your chance to get the best seats for Warabe.
