[Boston, MA]—National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $80 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $20,000 to Celebrity Series of Boston for its Arts for All! community engagement programs. Art Works is the Arts Endowment’s principal grantmaking program. The agency received 1,592 Art Works applications for this round of grantmaking, and will award 977 grants in this category.
“These awards, reaching every corner of the United States, are a testament to the artistic richness and diversity in our country,” said Mary Anne Carter, acting chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. “Organizations such as Celebrity Series of Boston are giving people in their community the opportunity to learn, create, and be inspired.”

Arts for All! is a suite of four community engagement programs that share the joy of live performance with people of all ages and abilities. Neighborhood Arts engages underserved and low income populations in six Boston neighborhoods, with interactive workshops for youth led by Boston area artists, free and deeply discounted community concerts in neighborhood venues, and free tickets to mainstage performances. Artist Connections offers masterclasses and community events with [subscription series] artists, focusing primarily on students from the elementary through conservatory levels, including targeted programs for students with physical disabilities. Take Your Seat provides thousands of free and discounted tickets each year to children, students, and community partners.
