Alexander Malofeev, piano

Longy's Edward M. Pickman Hall

Witness the Boston debut of a Russian piano prodigy being called a “genius” (Corriere della Sera) with “incredible maturity” (Amadeus). Alexander Malofeev performs in Europe’s most renowned concert halls and with some of the world’s top orchestras. Malofeev was only 13 years old when he won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, the world’s largest competition for young performers. He just keeps getting better, and he’s now holding his own as an adult, sharing his sincere love for the classical repertoire with worldwide audiences. This is a pianist destined for the biggest stages, so don’t miss the chance to experience his talent up-close in the intimacy of Longy’s Pickman Hall.

“You forgot you were listening to a youngster. He sang in his right hand, accompanied himself in the left. His playing was clear and limpid. His trills were exemplary—creamy, smooth. He knew when to take his time. He was in the skin of the music.”

The New Criterion

“Malofeev is an artist, whose heart is able to fuse rhythmic (and technique) mastery of performance with the deepest melodiousness…”
