Vienna Philharmonic
Andris Nelsons, conductor
Lang Lang, piano
Co-presentation with Boston Symphony Orchestra

The legendary Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Boston—its first visit since 2003—under the baton of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Andris Nelsons for a program of sumptuous late Romantic and 20th-century masterpieces.
Piano superstar Lang Lang, fresh off his triumphant, sold-out 2025 Celebrity Series recital, returns to Symphony Hall as the soloist in Bartók’s third and final piano concerto.

“There are aspects of sound in which the Viennese remain distinctively themselves: their winds woodsier — darker, somehow damper and more moodily blended, like a forest floor — than you hear from other orchestras, and the brasses in ensemble closer to a bronze shield than a golden spear.”
